Solo Editor's Letter

Welcome to April/May’s Solo-magazine!

Issue 8: April/May 2009
Hello everyone. Belated happy Paddy’s day etc etc and an early happy Easter. The April/May issue of Solo-magazine is now live with features this month looking at the concept of the serial dater (we all know one or two of them) and credit crunch comebacks – those delights, many of them culinary, that are seeing a revival ’cause of the recession.
Speaking of comebacks, they seem to be cropping up quite a bit this month as Solo Sabbatical takes on the subject of one night stands, which are a bit 1980s but constantly coming back into fashion. Solo Goes Out – Pubcrawler has an afternoon pint in Kehoe’s on South Anne Street, where everyone is betting on Cheltenham, and afterwards Solo Goes Out – Table For One decides to splash out in Bentley’s on the Green. Solo Stays In sticks with the economic downturn by teaching you how to make the perfect fried egg-mato sandwich (that’s a fried egg and tomato sambo by the way) – it’s cheap and cheerful and extremely bad for you, but what the hell, we’re all screwed anyway with the way the country’s going.
Solo Beauty talks up Elizabeth Arden as Solo Health talks down smoothies and Solo Sounds sings along at the recent Ladyhawke gig in Dublin. Solo Looks Back remembers Doc Martens, which are also making a comeback, while Solo And Famous takes a pop at Geri Halliwell and Solo Tabloid Tales takes an even bigger pop at Kerry Katona (cuts her up to shreds as usual actually.) Meanwhile Solo Signs Off wonders if it would be OK to make a recessionary waitressing career comeback.
All this and more. Have a great April and we’ll be back again in May!
