Solo Socialises: Bloggers do a late rooftop brunch at Grafton Street’s M&S

ms-brunchThe 12th Fashion Bloggers’ Brunch, organised as usual by Solo Style & Beauty editor and fashion writer Annmarie O’Connor (www.iblogfashion.blogspot.com) took place on Saturday, July 25, in the lovely and airy rooftop restaurant in Marks & Spencer on Grafton Street. And it was buzzing with business – even at 3pm, when we took our seats to eat, drink and be merry. But the afternoon rush didn’t stop the staff giving us their undivided attention as they made sure we did just that – ate, drank and got merry. And all in style I might add! It was a gathering of fashion bloggers after all!
The Irish Times recently referred to this M&S eatery as ‘one of the capital’s best kept culinary secrets’ and it’s easy to see why. The loaction is great – you can head there in the midst or after a bout of retail therapy – as is the atmosphere. And of course then there’s the food. A varied menu means there is something for everyone, whether you’re after just a quick bite or a more leisurely lunch. It being a Saturday and all that we went for the latter and had starters, main courses, desserts, coffee, wine and cava in the space of nearly three hours. You’d swear we didn’t get out much!
From the garlic prawns, chicken Caesars and fishcakes to the carrot cake and Eton Mess, there wasn’t a word of complaint out of any of us. And that wasn’t because we were too busy gossiping and stuffing our faces. It was all genuinely delicious and helped by the never ending supply of bubbly being poured by the super obliging waiters and waitresses.
An M&S restaurant experience is every bit as good as an M&S shopping experience, it would seem. I predict we’ll all be back for more, as well as recommending it to everyone we know too.
